KIGALI, (CAJ News) – MTN Rwanda and Rwanda Online Platform Limited (ROPL) have partnered on a solution envisaged to make payment for government services easier through the Irembo e-Government platform.
Irembo is a single “one-stop-shop” for government service applications and payment.
MTN customers can use their MTN Mobile Money accounts to make payments for government services that are currently available on the Irembo platform (www.irembo.gov.rw) or via USSD at *909#.
Speaking at the launch of this service at MTN Headquarters in Nyarutarama, MTN Business General Manager, Norman Munyampundu noted every day Rwandan citizens and businesses wanted to connect to government for some matters.
“Technological innovation is vital to MTN’s existence and with the dramatic growth of MTN Mobile Money solutions, we are glad to continuously provide convenient, easy and secure payment processes that harness the latest in mobile technology,” said Munyampundu.
Clement Uwajeneza, Chief Executive Officer of ROPL, said the company’s most important was to make access to Government services user friendly for citizens and businesses in Rwanda.
“This partnership with MTN gets us closer to achieving that goal as we together are making it even simpler for their 4 million subscribers to pay for Government services,” Uwajeneza said.
