JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – PAN-African news agency, Centre for African Journalists (CAJ) News Africa, and Radio Africa Group, one of Kenya’s biggest media organisations, have completed a twinning programme.
The arrangement paves way for the two media groups collaborating on articles and other initiatives in future.
A team of journalists and editors from the East African country was in Johannesburg, South Africa recently to finalise the twinning, which the France-based World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), initiated under its Strengthening Media and Society capacity building programme.
“Radio Africa Group would like to thank CAJ News for hosting us for the twinning programme between April 26-29,” the radio Africa Group delegations stated.
“We are grateful for the hospitality and great learning experience. We enjoyed being at CAJ News, learning how the organisation works, getting tips on improving our organisation and discussing possible areas of collaboration.”
The visit by the Radio Africa delegation of Valerie Koga (Sub Editor), Jill Namatsi (Digital Sub Editor) and Francis Openda (Head of In-depth Content) followed a similar excursion to Kenya by a CAJ News Africa team in November 2016.
Savious-Parker Kwinika, CAJ News Africa Chief Executive Officer, hailed the twinning.
“We cherish the twinning relationship with Africa Radio Group,” said Kwinika.
“CAJ News Africa values this partnership, and we look forward to cultivating it. At CAJ News Africa, we strongly believe in partnerships and synergies, so, our relationship with one of Kenya and East Africa’s leading media groups is a step in the right direction,” added Kwinika.
“Although our business models are completely different, we learnt from one another, and the knowledge acquired from this twinning relationship will always make our organisations achieve more.”
Radio Africa Group owns six national radio stations, a television station and a national newspaper.
CAJ News Africa is the continent’s premier newswire and press release distributor, endorsed by both private and public sectors in all 54 African member states.
It was recently recognised as Africa’s best news agency by Hope Africa.
